Orange zest and almonds are the most important ingredients for these aromatic biscuits that seem so right after Christmas!

almonds, chopped
organic oranges
1 tsp
baking powder
3-4 tbsp
orange juice
3-4 tbsp
For the glaze / icing:
100 g
icing sugar
2 tbsp
orange juice


  • Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar and almonds.
  • Grate the zest of the oranges and add to the mixture.
  • Add the margarine to the bowl in small pieces, along with the milk and 3–4 tablespoons of the orange juice, and knead into a smooth dough.
  • Shape the dough into two long rolls.
  • Wrap the rolls in cling film and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Cut the rolls into slices 3–4 mm thick.
  • Use your fingers to reshape the biscuits once sliced.
  • Place on a tray lined with baking parchment.
  • Bake in the oven at 170°C for 14–16 minutes until the biscuits are light brown.
  • Stir the icing sugar and orange juice together to make a glaze.
  • Brush the glaze onto the biscuits while they are still hot.
  • Leave to cool on a cooling rack.
