Spaghetti Marinara

Spaghetti Marinara

The Italian-American spaghetti marinara sauce is quite different than that of the "old-world." The phrase translates to "spaghetti mariners-style," and implies the use of various seafood in the tomato sauce.

12 oz Spaghetti
3 oz baby squid
3 oz shrimps
3 oz , mussels, shelled
11 oz tomatoes, peeled and chopped
1 clove garlic
1 bunch parsley, chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
(to taste) salt
(to taste) pepper

  • Clean the squid thoroughly, peel the prawns and cut everything into small pieces.
  • In a small pot, brown the garlic, peeled, chopped tomatoes and salt and pepper in olive oil; add the squid, prawns and mussels and cook for 20 minutes on a low heat.
  • Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti, drain and combine with the sauce.
  • Sprinkle generously with parsley.
