Classic Swedish rolls, really fantastic! Savour the taste of Sweden in your own home.  

Ingredients

400 g
1 tsp
xanthan gum
50 g
butter or margarine
250 ml
warm milk
42 g
brewers' yeast
or
1 package
dry yeast
40 g
sugar
1
egg
For the filling:
60 g
melted butter
or
60 g
melted margarine
50 g
sugar
1 tbsp
cinnamon
For the icing:
a little bit of
milk
1
egg
3 tbsp
pearl sugar

Preparation

  • Dissolve the fresh or dry yeast in a little lukewarm water.
  • Place the flour, xanthan gum and sugar in a bowl and mix.
  • Add the yeast, egg yolks and the butter or margarine and work until you have a smooth batter.
  • Shape a rectangle of about 1/2 cm thick, on a floured work surface.
  • Brush with melted butter or margarine.  
  • Mix the sugar and cinnamon and distribute this evenly over the dough.  
  • Roll the dough starting from the longest side, then cut out disks of around 2 cm.
  • Position the disks on two sheets covered with oven paper, brush with milk and let rise for around 45 minutes in a warm place.  
  • Then brush with a beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with grains of sugar.  
  • Cook the rolls in an oven pre-heated to 190°C for around 20-25 minutes (upper and lower heat, middle tray).
