A delicious Spanish twist on the French classic.
A Spanish Easter family gathering wouldn’t be complete without the traditional Spanish French Toast, also known as Torrijas. This delicious recipe is a classic staple in all Spanish households during the Easter holidays and, after you try it, it will be one in yours too! Enjoy their deliciously soft and sweet taste and texture, you will not believe they are gluten free! Pair it with a hot cup of tea or coffee, or even chocolate! - Heat the milk with the sugar, sweet wine and the cinnamon stick.
- Cut the bread into 2cm slices.
- Soak the bread slices in the milk mixture until they absorbed as much liquid as possible (make sure they are thoroughly soaked).
- Warm the oil in a frying pan.
- Put the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Dip the bread slices in the beaten eggs and fry them on both sides.
- Lay them on paper towel to absorb the excess oil and cover with sugar and cinnamon.
