The classic Black Forest cherry cake with juicy cherries on a fluffy sponge cake. Very much in demand for birthdays!


For the dough:
220 g
180 g
30 g
cocoa powder
grated lemon peel
vanilla pod
1 pinch/es of
For the filling:
1 glass
sour cherries
chocolate flakes


  • Break the whole eggs into a bowl with the sugar and beat them until they whipped (about 10 minutes).
  • Add the grated lemon peel, vanilla seeds and salt and mix well. Gradually stir in the flour and cocoa.
  • Then pour the mixture into a greased and floured springform pan 25 cm in diameter.
  • Bake at 180° C for 40 minutes, in a preheated oven. Remove the cake from the oven and allow to cool.
  • Remove it from the mould and cut it horizontally into three parts: there will be 3 chocolate cake bases.
  • Whip the cream until stiff. Bathe the first cake disc with maraschino.
  • Cover with about a third of the whipped them and add some cherries. Cover the first with the second disc and repeat the operation.
  • Add the third and top disc, applying gentle pressure and sprinkling this with maraschino as well.
  • Then cover the entire cake with the remaining cream and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • Decorate with 16 cream curls with a black cherry placed on each one. Store in a cool place.
