A new recipe, born in New Jersey
Something special is happening at Schär USA, and it started right here in Swedesboro, New Jersey. We're introducing our new Artisan Baker Recipe, made with a special sourdough that brings a whole new depth of flavor to the gluten-free table. Sourdough is more than a trend: it's a tradition. The natural fermentation process enriches aroma, builds better texture, and improves shelf life and when you're making food for people who depend on every ingredient being right, that kind of care matters. We wanted to celebrate this launch the way we celebrate everything at Schär: by introducing you to the people behind it.
Unlike breads baked with commercial yeast, sourdough gets its rise from a naturally fermented starter which is a simple mixture of water and flour that cultivates wild bacteria and yeast over time. That fermentation process is what gives sourdough its depth of flavor.
The people behind
every product
"My name is Rosen Salazar, and I'm the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor here at the Swedesboro plant. I've been with Schär for eight years, and my job is to make sure that every product leaving our facility is safe, consistent, and worthy of the trust our customers place in us. One thing I'm proud of is that we keep our bread free from synthetic preservatives and instead we use protective packaging methods to naturally extend the shelf life of our baked good and preserve freshness completely without artificial additives.
Outside of work, I love to cook, so I understand firsthand what it means to want ingredients you can rely on. We only bake products we'd feel proud sharing with our own loved ones. Watching the new Artisan Baker Recipe grow from an idea into something our consumers will get to enjoy is a perfect example. Working for a brand whose mission is to improve the lives of people with special nutritional needs makes it worth coming to work every day."
"And I'm Alex Moore. I've been part of the Schär family for over five and a half years in the packaging department. My role goes beyond supervising the clean room. I also support team leads, assist other departments, and make sure every product on the line meets the standard our customers expect. Outside of work, I'm a model, and whether you're on a runway or a production line, every detail matters.
When I'm doing my job, I think about the person on the other end of that package: someone who just wants to enjoy their food without worry. That's what keeps me focused. Between Rosen and me, we've spent nearly 14 years making sure that what leaves this plant is something we're proud of."
