Freshness Sticker – what is it?

What is inside the Freshness Sticker
It contains powdered iron, a natural material which helps to remove oxygen from the bead package. 

Is the Freshness Sticker absorbing the oxygen all the time?
The absorption, hence the functioning of the Freshness Sticker, happens within the first 48-72 hours after packing the product. Afterwards the product stays in an airtight atmosphere free from oxygen. Without the Freshness Sticker the product would be spoiled sooner.

Do ingredients permeate the bread during the absorption?
No, the powdered iron in the label does not come into contact with the bread; the structure of the label does not allow solid material to pass through it.

Is there a negative impact when the breads get in touch with the Freshness Sticker? 
No, there is no negative impact. 

Does a product containing the Freshness Sticker have a negative impact on my health? 
No. The Freshness Sticker is approved for use on food products sold in the European Union and in U.S.. 

Does removing the Freshness Sticker from packaging have a negative effect on bread? 
The Freshness Sticker does not work once the packaging has been opened. Removing the Freshness Sticker after this time has neither a negative nor positive influence on the bread. 

Does the product get dry due to the oxygen absorption? 
No, the product does not get dry due to the Freshness Sticker. By absorbing the oxygen the Freshness Sticker absorbs also a minimum level of the humidity. This does not have considerable effects on the bread. 

Does the product remain fresh for a longer time after opening the pack? 
The Freshness Sticker will only absorb oxygen in an airtight atmosphere. After opening the pack, the product behaves in the same way as any other packed product without preservatives.

Does a product containing the Freshness Sticker have a negative impact on my health? 
No. The Freshness Sticker is approved for food contact in the European Union and in the U.S.. 

What should I do if a Freshness Sticker appears damaged? 
If you are not sure if the Freshness Sticker has been damaged, do not hesitate to contact the Schär care line. Please send an email, including a picture if possible, to contact_en@schaer.com and a member of our team will get in contact with you. Please do not consume the product as you might be asked to be return it to Schär headquarters in order to get a reimbursement. 

What happens if the Freshness Sticker is accidently destroyed and the powdered iron is eaten? 
The Fresh Patch is not a food and should not be consumed. Should a part of the Freshness Sticker be accidentally eaten, contact contact_en@schaer.com to get prompt help.

 What happens if the Freshness Sticker falls into the possession of children? 
Please keep out of reach from children. A sharp or pointed object may destroy the Freshness Sticker. Your child is not at risk if they come into contact with the powdered iron or the Freshness Sticker itself. However, the sticker as all other plastic parts of the package is not a food and should not be consumed. If you suspect your children has eaten a part of the package or the Freshness sticker itself, seek for advice from a doctor and contact us. 

What happens if the Oxygen Absorber falls into the possession of pets? 
Please keep out of reach from pets. A sharp or pointed object may destroy the Freshness Sticker. If you suspect your pet has eaten or chewed a Freshness Sticker or the package itself, please consult a vet if you fear your pet has consumed the Freshness Sticker and contact us. 

What if the Freshness Sticker is loose in the packaging? 
This does not have any negative impact on the product nor on the function of the Freshness Sticker itself. In this rare case dispose of the Freshness Sticker to avoid that it coming into contact with children or animals. If you are unsure about the integrity of the Freshness Sticker, please contact us to get advice.

How do I dispose the Freshness Sticker? 
The Freshness Sticker can be disposed into general domestic waste. Please verify your local guidelines while disposing the whole package. 

Is it possible to reuse the Freshness Sticker? 
No, once the packaging is open, the Freshness Sticker cannot be reused. 

Is it possible to freeze the pack with the Freshness Sticker? 
Yes, product packed with the Freshness Sticker can be frozen. 

Do changing temperatures effect the Freshness Sticker and its function of absorbing oxygen? 
The effect of the Freshness Sticker is guaranteed at room temperature. As the absorbing, hence the functioning of the Freshness Sticker, happens within the first 48-72 hours after sealing, it is ensure in the supply chain that no major temperature changes happens within this time. Once the product appears in your local supermarket any changes in temperature will have no impact on the freshness sticker. However, we do advise you store your bread in a dry, cool area outside of direct sunlight and away from overly warm temperatures. 

Is the package containing the Freshness Sticker suitable for Microwave oven? 
No, if you want to heat up the bread in the microwave oven, we recommend to buy a plastic wrap suitable for microwave oven. Please be aware that the Freshness Sticker contains iron, which is a component which may be not heated into microwave ovens.
