Antwerp is such a lovely city in the Northern part of Belgium, just on the border with the Netherlands. It is well connected both from Brussels and from Amsterdam, so it is easy to catch a train or take a bus and have a day trip there!

Every good day starts with a good breakfast, right? Well, in Antwerp if you are keen on having a sweet morning start, you should definitely try the gluten free Belgian waffles from “Eugène Glutenvrije Bakkerij” (with vegan options too!), also to take away and have as gift to take back home.

The tour starts with a nice walk around the lovely shops of the Zuid, the southern part of Antwerp city center. However, after a long walk, it is time to take a break and have some treats! Another famous Belgian tradition is for sure chocolate and there are many shops in town, which serve gluten free pralines upon request. One of them is “Leonidas Chocolate”, a well-known chain with a detailed allergy list available for all.

Some of the best spots I have visited in Antwerp are surely the Plantin-Moretus Museum, the paradise for those (like me!), who are into serigraphy and publishing. However, before entering such a great museum, I would suggest to have a good gluten free lunch at “Chickpea”: there are not only gluten free, but vegan options too, mostly hummus-based and delicious!

The northern part of the city center culminates in the MAS, “Museum Aan De Stroom”, a wonderful building with an amazing view over the whole city from the tenth floor! It is a must-visit even during a short stay in Antwerp.

Before leaving this lovely Belgian city, it is best to have some of the most delicious frites in town! After all, it is one of the most famous Belgian food worldwide! At “Frites Atelier”, all the frites are 100% gluten free, and it’s possible to choose among different types of gourmet mayonnaise too!
