Follow me around – Portugal on the road

Let’s go to explore the beauty of Portugal, making a road trip from Porto to Lisbon along the Atlantic coast.

Portugal is a wonderful country in the far West of the European continent, right on the Atlantic Ocean, going from the green vineyard of “Douro region”, to the blue of the great waves along the coast, till the gold of “Algarve beach”.

It has so much offers to visitors – the best way to explore it, is therefore definitely by car, on a road trip along the beauties of this country.

The first stop of our journey is “Porto”, a lovely city on the “Douro river”, worldwide famous for the homonymous wine. I immediately fell in love with its streets, atmosphere, and colors. But most of all, with its incredible “bacalao”, the traditional cod plate! We had an amazing (and safely gluten free!) seafood dinner at “Intrigo”, while catching the last sun over the river.

Before leaving the “Douro”, we had an amazing gluten free breakfast at “Com Cuore”, a lovely family-based café right in the center of Porto!

Next stop: “Peniche” and the Atlantic coast, where the waves are as big as skyscrapers. Surfers come here from all over the world just to catch the biggest ones!

Going southern, before arriving at “Lisbon”, we discovered the picturesque “Sintra”, with its multi-colored “Palace of Pena”, and the most Western part of the European continent: “Cabo da Roca”.

The best part of having breakfast in Lisbon is trying the famous “pastel de nata”, a lovely cream-filled pastry traditionally from “Belem” neighborhood. I had my gluten free version at the amazing “Zarzuela”, a gluten free bakery shop close to “Placa do Comercio”.

Time to go back home and leave this amazing country! What’s best if not with an amazing and gluten free safe Portuguese dinner at “Open Brasserie Mediterrânica”?
