Almonds, raisins, and candied fruit are just some of the ingredients of this delicious traditional Christmas pastry from the North.

Ingredients

For the dough:
500 g
10 g
dry yeast
or
15 g
fresh yeast
125 g
sugar
375 ml
lukewarm milk
125 g
margarine at room temperature

eggs
1 pinch/es of
salt
250 g
raisins
250 g
almonds, chopped
50 g
candied orange peel
50 g
candied citron peel
For the icing:
100 g
melted margarine
a little bit of
icing sugar

Preparation

  • Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, milk, eggs, and salt, then add the margarine and knead into a dough.
  • Next, knead in the raisins, almonds, and finely chopped candied orange peel and candied lemon peel.
  • Pour this dough into a greased stollen form and allow to rise for approximately one hour.
  • Invert the stolen on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven.
  • Immediately after baking, spread with the melted margarine, and sprinkle thickly with the icing sugar.
