We booked into this pub as a party of 18 arriving on an early Friday winter evening, most travelling from 20+ miles away for a wedding weekend locally. I must say upfront that the manageress & her staff were great. Of course, some guests ran late, which delayed the meal, but they took this in their stride. We warned them in advance that my wife is GF, so once identified, serving her was no problem, particularly as the order was placed in advance. There was a warm and friendly welcome - despite the latecomers, we were treated as honoured guests, with a room and huge table dedicated to just us.I honestly think that some of the food could have been better. I know that there were mutters about a couple of meals, and my wife says her steak was nothing special for the price and the claimed locally sourced home-cooked produce.Overall, I would say the Windmill is a pleasant place to stop off for a meal and drink (real ales and sensibly priced wine available) but limit your group size.
